Sundowns go tied with Chiefs

Mamelodi Sundowns moved level on points with the league leaders Kaizer Chiefs after they saw off University of Pretoria 2-1 in the Tshwane derby at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.

Goals in either half by Anthony Laffor and Lebohang ‘CheeseBoy’ Mokoena was enough to set up a thrilling climax to the domestic campaign.

Atusaye Nyondo got the consolation for the visitors.

“A game of two halves, we had to break the wall,” said coach Pitso Mosimane post-match.

Despite Chiefs having two games in hand, the race for the title has most certainly heated up more so with the clash of the top two over the coming weekend, where there will be no margin error as a win for either side will do only.

“We will not sit back when we play Kaizer Chiefs, if we lose it, we will lose it, if we win it, we win it.

“We will not give them (Chiefs) the title on a silver platter, anybody who wants it must fight for it.” Mosimane highlighted.

Bloemfontein Celtic and Amazulu played to a dull goalless draw at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in the afternoon’s other encounter.
